Black Open Carry Protesters Are Marching Against Police Brutality, and the Media Is Silent

NMC_20gunclub2

They call themselves the Huey P. Newton Gun Club, named after the co-founder of the Black Panther Party For Self Defense. Like the defunct organization which called for reform of community policing, demanding that police come from the neighborhoods they serve, the Huey P. Newton Gun Club says they are marching “to promote self-defense and community policing” in response to the recent high profile stories about police shooting unarmed African Americans across the country.
To the protesters, “community policing” is more than just a word. Communities should be protected by members of the community, and held accountable. Ironically this was the original vision for community policing, articulated in 1812 by Sir Robert Peel. That’s right, it may surprise many to discover that our communities have only had police as we know them for a little over 200 years. Even then, it took a little while for Peel’s concept of police forces to make its way to the United States. Since then it has become a norm that many cannot imagine a time before.
In Texas, the Huey P. Newton Gun Club are following in the footsteps of Newton, who was a law major, striving to stay within the bounds of legality. Though the historical Black Panthers had a notable slip-up which led to then Governor Ronald Reagan signing the Mulford Act which prohibited carrying loaded guns in public space. The goal of the Panthers, as they explained it, was to assert the rights of the people to defend themselves against corrupt police, within the bounds of the law. The Huey P. Newton Gun Club says that’s exactly what they are doing today with their open carry protests.
Police have kept a close eye on the protesters, while also trying to keep their distance. One officer we talked to said “there’s really nothing we can do about it. Open carry protests are not against the law.”
Others refused to comment.
As the open carry protesters marched down MLK Boulevard and Malcolm X Boulevard chanting “justice for Michael Brown,” the unarmed African American teenager shot and killed by police in suburban St. Louis town of Ferguson, police looked uneasy.
Since that first protest, the Huey P. Newton Gun Club has hit the streets again. They say “black open carry is here to stay.”
Far from being focused only by the Mike Brown shooting, the Huey P. Newton Gun Club says that their goal is “to shed light on local shootings by police.”
“We think that all black people have the right to self-defense and self-determination,” said Huey Freeman, the organizer of one of this Fall’s marches. “We believe that we can police ourselves and bring security to our own communities.”
Freeman said Wednesday’s marchers planned to patronize several South Dallas businesses to keep their money in the community and teach their neighbors about their “right to self-defense.” The group says that they are here to educate people about their rights, and to defend against illegal violence perpetrated by rogue officers or even drug dealers.
Many passers-by honked and waved in support. Most were African American, but many were Caucasian and Latino.
“We need to arm ourselves, not to attack anybody, but in self-defense,” an open carry protester said. “We can’t let people just come into our community, whether they are law enforcement or not, and just gun our people down and there is no accountability.”
Dallas police officers appeared to follow the demonstrators in unmarked police cars. Toward the beginning of the 90-minute demonstration, a couple of police cars temporarily blocked off MLK Boulevard so the protesters could safely cross the street.
Christina Smith, acting commander of the Police Department’s strategic deployment bureau, explained “it is standard protocol for non-uniformed officers to be present at all scheduled protests/rallys in order to protect the rights of the demonstrators as well as other citizens.”
Protester Charles Goodson, said “I would rather them not be here because there are many issues going on here with regards to police brutality. But, at the same time, if it helps the community by seeing the police here or makes people more comfortable, then that’s fine.”
The earlier August protest saw a strong police presence, even while officers kept their distance. At one point the police blocked off the street to allow the protesters to cross traffic safely. Other than that officers said they were not going to stop them. Protesters too said that they were more or less indifferent to the police presence, as they were “irrelevant” to the legal and peaceful march.
Now a second, larger open carry “armed self-defense patrol” took to the streets this October, marching around Dixon Circle. This is where James Harper was shot and killed by a Dallas officer in July of 2012 when a raid was executed on his home, sparking outrage in the community.
“The end goal is to establish the situation where all black people in every community are armed,” Darren Ecks, an open carry protester with the group said. “They’re ready to do self-defense, not just against the police department, but against drug dealers or against anybody that would bring harm to the communities.”
Help SPREAD THE WORD, because we all know the mainstream media won’t do it’s job!

Pumpkin Fest 2014 Riots: Police Ignore Massive Bottle Fight

A quaint pumpkin festival in New Hampshire ended with tear gas, street fires and at least one flipped car on Saturday as mobs of college students and young people turned parts of the town of Keene into a free-for-all.
Social media footage from the scene showed revelers destroying street signs, throwing glass bottles, pushing barricades and hurling curses at the police.
“It’s (expletive) wicked,” Steven French, an 18-year-old from Haverhill, Mass., told the Keene Sentinel. “It’s just like a rush. You’re revolting from the cops. ... It’s a blast to do things that you’re not supposed to do.”
Embedded image permalink
Keene police could not immediately be reached for comment Sunday, but the department arrested at least 49 people over the weekend in the normally sleepy town of 23,419, according to the Associated Press. The Keene Sentinel reported numerous injuries throughout the day, including revelers injured by thrown glass bottles and fireworks.
New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan said in a statement Sunday that she was "outraged by the irresponsible, terrible actions that marred a New Hampshire tradition."
It's for those normally tame crowds that the Keene Police Department has been derided for once seeking an armored police vehicle, citing the possibility of a terrorist attack.
Instead, the town, which is home to Keene State College, appears to have been mildly terrorized by its own young people, who massed in the streets for drunken revelry. And as is often the case in any place that young people gather en masse, the events were well-documented on social media.
"College students completely got out of hand and threw lots of glass bottles on smaller roads," fourth-year Keene State student Alex Karabakakis told the Los Angeles Times. "Drunk and disrespectful" revelers also taunted the police with chants, he said.
Karabakakis said he thought the police presence seemed "excessive," but he added that "reading through Twitter and seeing pics of flipped cars with students taking selfies in front of street fires kind of made me understand the increased police presence."
"I'm definitely not proud to be a KSC student after seeing this kind of behavior," Karabakakis said. "KSC is known to have pretty wild parties going on around where the police were yesterday, but I've never seen actual riot lines in Keene before."
Keene State President Anne Huot said that the college was "actively working to identify the individuals who participated in unlawful behavior, and those who are identified will be held accountable."
"We are reviewing images, videos, media coverage, social media postings, and information we have about off-campus residences," Huot said in a statement. "The most serious offenders will face interim suspension, followed by conduct action up to, and including, expulsion."
As for the pumpkin festival organizers, they said in a statement: "Yesterday gave us many lessons; sorting them out and learning will take time."

Operation Secure The Diamonds in Liberia ..... We Sent Troops for a Virus???

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – An exciting diamond find has been made in Liberia, Incubex Minerals chief operating officer Dr John Bristow said on Tuesday.
Bristow, speaking to Mining Weekly Online in the attached video interview, said the discovery of what appears to be a kimberlite pipe had been made by South African-born geologist Steve Haggerty, CEO and chief exploration officer ofYoussef Diamond Mining Company (YDMC).
The pipe is located in Liberia’s Camp Alpha region of Cape Mount County.
The US-funded YDMC has been working in deep jungle in a cratonic area regarded as highly prospective and is now taking steps to scope and develop a plant for the conducting of the pipe’s economic evaluation.
“It’s nice to see some new discoveries coming to the fore,” said Bristow.
If the pipe turns out to be economic, it has the potential to boost Liberia’s developing economy.
However, only 1% of the 6 500 kimberlites that companies have found around the world have been economically feasible to mine.
“It’s a long-odds game,” Bristow commented to Mining Weekly Online.
The pipe, along with an associated kimberlite fissure system, is almost certain be the source of the diamonds that have supported a downstream alluvial artisanal diamond mining community for the past seven decades.
In neighbouring Sierra Leone, the Steinmetz group has the Koidu diamond mine.
YDMC said in a media release that the pipe had a proven length of 438 m and a width of up to 45 m.
The Star of Sierra Leone, which was discovered in the Koidu area in 1972, is said to be the largest alluvial diamond ever discovered.
The 968.9-carat diamond, which New York City jeweller Harry Winstonreportedly bought for around $2.5-million 41 years ago, is described as having perfect chemical purity.

Joe Biden’s Son Hunter Discharged From Navy for Positive Cocaine Test

453378695-vice-president-joe-biden-waves-as-he-walks-out-of-air

One of Vice President Joe Biden’s sons, Hunter Biden, has been discharged from the Navy after reportedly testing positive for cocaine, the Wall Street Journal reports.
According to the Journal, Biden, 44, joined the Navy Reserves last year and because of his age had to go through a commission that required him to submit to a drug test. After he reportedly tested positive, his brief tenure with the Navy, which included a part-time job, was terminated.
Since the Navy does not make discharge information public, the Journal did not state whether Biden’s discharge was honorable or dishonorable.
“[It was] the honor of my life to serve in the U.S. Navy, and I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge,” Biden wrote in a statement viewed by the Journal. “I respect the Navy’s decision. With the love and support of my family, I’m moving forward.”
The Journal noted that Biden’s fall from grace shouldn’t be that bad, since he is a lawyer by training and currently a managing partner in an investment firm.

Michael Dunn sentenced to life plus 105 years for killing unarmed teen over ‘loud music’

Michael Dunn (CNN screenshot)

Michael Dunn, a middle-aged white man, was sentenced to life in prison without parole, plus 90 years, by a Florida judge on Friday for killing an unarmed black teenager in an argument over loud rap music.
Dunn, 47, a software engineer, testified at his murder trial last month he thought he was defending himself from an armed threat when he fired 10 rounds at an SUV carrying four teens at a Jacksonville gas station parking lot, killing Jordan Davis, 17, in November 2012.
Under Florida law, first-degree murder is punishable by life in prison without parole. Dunn received an additional 90 years in prison for earlier convictions on three counts of attempted murder of the other teens, none of whom were injured. Prosecutors waived the death penalty before trial.
The Dunn case drew comparisons to George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of murder in Florida last year in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, another unarmed black 17-year-old. Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, said he fired in self-defense.
Dunn and Davis exchanged words before the shooting about the loud music coming from the SUV.
The jury, composed of 10 whites and two blacks, took less than five hours to reach a verdict. In a previous trial in February, a jury deadlocked after deliberating the murder charge in Davis’ death for four days, but convicted Dunn on three counts of attempted murder for firing at the other teenagers in the vehicle.
State Attorney Angela Corey said Dunn’s actions after the shooting, including leaving the scene without calling 911, were clear evidence of guilt.

Why Beavercreek Police Say They Want To Get Rid of the Cop Who Shot John Crawford

sean_williams_john_crawford

When Officer Sean Williams gunned down John Crawford in the Beavercreek, Ohio Walmart, two of our citizen journalists were on the scene within what amounted to minutes.
“What took the longest was getting into the parking lot. We were on our way to Colonel Glenn, one block parallel to a different store. But when a number of officers swarmed the shopping center, we decided to pull in and see what was going on,” our reporters explained.
It didn’t take long to find out some of the specifics, “people were running everywhere, to their cars, to other stores like Office Depot. They were trying to get as far away from Walmart as possible.”
Why? “They said there was a ‘crazed gun man firing at shoppers.’ Little did we know then, but this ‘crazed gunman’ who they were referring to was not John Crawford, it was Officer Williams,” our other citizen journalist on the scene added.
Our reporters say that they’ve deliberately kept their names out of this because of previous harassment by the Beavercreek Police Department.
“A couple of years ago we filmed the Beavercreek cops arresting a lady who was begging for money on Christmas Eve. We had just given her some cash and we watched the Beavercreek cops literally pocket it. We pulled over and started filming. We gave her another $20 and challenged the officer to steal it while we were filming.”
But it didn’t end there. “The officer began screaming at us that we were not to approach him. He was grabbing his sidearm, even though we were a good 15 or more feet away. We left, realizing that we were about to get shot, and we put the video on YouTube.”
That’s when the threats from Beavercreek cops began.
“We were threatened day in and day out for a month. The Beavercreek cops called us, inboxed us at email addresses they should not have known. They threatened us with personal harm and even threatened to get us kicked out of [local University].”
Eventually they took the video down and the threats from the Beavercreek police came to an end.
“It didn’t surprise us when we heard about the Beavercreek Police shooting a black man in Walmart. That is what they do: they arrest or – in this case – kill people who come in from outside of the area and make the town seem lower income. The Supreme Court even had to stop them from their racist ban on bus stops, which aimed to keep black people out of Fairfield Commons Mall.” That mall is right across the street from the Walmart where John Crawford was shot.
Our reporters told us something else about the Beavercreek Police that might surprise you.
“The funny thing is, there are some decent folks in the Beavercreek department. I know a couple of them from [...] and one has told me several things about this case… but they wish to remain anonymous, of course.”
We, of course, have withheld the connection of our reporters to the officers they referred to, as this would compromise anonymity.
Our reporter turned to one of these sources in the Beavercreek Police Department in particular, early on when we were the first to identify the single shooter of Crawford. They told us the specific name and history of Officer Sean Williams, before any of this was public knowledge, as well as the fact that he had killed before, in fact being the only Beavercreek officer to have killed anyone in the line of work in the history of the department.
So we turned to them again about this case, and this is what they told our reporters…
“Nobody on the force wants Williams here anymore.”
“Why?” our reporters asked. “Could you elaborate?”
“He’s a liability. We all know it. There was an investigation last time he shot someone. It seemed more clear cut, but the family disputed his claims – said that he never charged him with the knife, that Williams was lying. I don’t know who is telling the truth, and neither did anyone else except the family, Sean and a dead vet[eran].”
We asked further, “what about him being a liability? Why won’t the Chief just fire him?”
“It’s not that simple,” the officer explained to us. “He has history here: family history. The Chief honors that.”
The officer seemed to have been referring to the fact that Officer Sean William’s father works for the department and has for decades. He in fact parked a K-9 unit vehicle with a barking police dog right near where protesters were blocking the entrance to the department during last week’s occupation of the Beavercreek Police Department. In spite of the illegal barricade and goading arrest by activists, police stood down as the department was shut down.
“Sean is a lose cannon. That’s how many of us feel. We want to get back to work. But he’s making this our daily priority. We’re constantly being briefed about one thing or another related to this case. Once he’s back on the beat, what if he shoots someone else? Is this just something we have to expect every few years now?”
We asked the officer if this is the general consensus among officers at the Beavercreek Police Department.
“Everyone doesn’t feel as strongly about this as I do, but I would say yes, that is the general climate, aside from people close to [the Williams family].”
This Saturday there is a major protest demanding justice for John Crawford at the state capital in Columbus. The officer we spoke to encouraged protesters to “keep it up. There is nothing you are doing that is illegal. If other cops don’t like it: too damn bad.”
We asked about the blockade of the department too, they replied: “I am not privy to all of the details, but I will tell you that while there was some discussion, I don’t think anyone was ever going to get arrested. The Department is out of the way for many reasons. But one is that you can protest there all day and no one will know unless they know. It was an inconvenience, but at the end of the day, Chief told you that he’s gonna do whatever-the-hell he wants anyway. So you packed up, you went home. That’s what he knew would happen. He’s just hoping it all blows over and fizzles out. If arrests would have been made, it would have brought more attention to this. He [the Chief] just wants this to go away – I just want this to go away. But we disagree on what that means for Sean. I don’t think this can or even should go away until he is off the streets for good. Then we can get back to doing our jobs.”
Help us get the word out. The movement to bring justice for John Crawford is just getting started!

17-YEAR-OLD BOY FOUND HANGING BY HIS NECK IN NORTH CAROLINA TRAILER PARK, FOR DATING A WHITE WOMAN

Police say they have no evidence of foul play in the hanging death of North Carolina teen Lennon Lacy.

Many people use social media for negativity, but sometimes social media can be used to spread the news on incidents that don’t gain national media attention. Lennon Lacy, a 17-year-old boy from Bladenboro, North Carolina was found hanging by his neck Friday, August 29, 2014. Many people haven’t heard this story because various media outlets haven’t made it their priority to share his story.
Lennon Lacy's autopsy report is out, but it does little to quell the sinister mystery surrounding the North Carolina teen's death. Lennon, 17, died from suffocation as a result of hanging, it says, adding that the dark abrasion circling his neck and the buckle mark under his ear were caused by the noose made of belts that was tied to the swing set where he was found in Bladenboro on Aug. 29. But the autopsy gives no clues as to how the high school junior got there, and Lennon's family still insists didn't kill himself. The autopsy report does, however, mention that Lennon had reportedly "been depressed over the recent death of his uncle," an inclusion the teen's brother says is suspicious. "An autopsy cannot determine whether a person was depressed—you can’t tell that from physical signs, so why was it put in the report?" Pierre Lacy tells the Guardian.
A NAACP lawyer working with the Lacy family agrees, saying suicide may have been presumed going into the autopsy, when "all our evidence suggests that Lennon was relieved that his great uncle had died after a long and painful illness, and that he was looking forward to his football game that night." Also odd: The autopsy report doesn't mention shoes among its list of the clothing he was found in (the family was told Lennon was found wearing white sneakers in the wrong size that relatives didn't recognize), nor does it mention a bump seen on Lennon's forehead by relatives and the funeral director. And no DNA swabs seem to have been taken to determine whether anyone else's DNA was present on Lennon's body. The family is considering exhuming the body to have an independent autopsy conducted, and the NAACP wants to talk to the chief medical examiner. Click for more on Lennon's death.

According to Lennon’s father, Larry Walton, he was the last person in his family to see his son alive. Around midnight, on the 29th of August, Larry Walton got up to get a glass of water and spotted his son, in his room, getting ready for the first football game the season, which kicked off later that evening. Lennon Lacy was the staring linebacker on the varsity team at his local high school, and he stayed out of trouble, all summer he trained for football. Lennon Lacy’s goal was to perform at a high-level so that he could receive a scholarship for college, which would ultimately lead him to the NFL. Lennon had so much ambition, but unfortunately his life was cut short due to his murder. According to his father, after telling Lennon he needed to go to sleep, he heard the front door open and shut. Lennon’s father didn’t think much of it, so he decided to go back to sleep.
The next morning had arrived and there was no sign of Lennon. His mother found her son’s uniform still on his bed and the police were banging on her door. His mother immediately became worried because he was known in the neighborhood for being a nice young man, but police informed her he was found hanging by his neck from a wooden swing set near a trailer park.
Since the day of their son’s murder, the family has been trying their absolute best to get answers that the police didn’t seem to care about. According to Lacy’s mother, Claudia, the teen had abrasions and indentations to his face. The mortician who embalmed Lennon’s body said that the marks on the teen reminded him of “corpses he had embalmed where the deceased had been killed in a bar-room fight.”
When Lennon’s body was discovered, the size 12 shoes he bought had been removed from his feet. His parents noticed that he was found with white 10.5 sneakers on his feet. His family also added that the police didn’t swab underneath Lacy’s fingernails for DNA evidence. Lennon’s burial plot has been desecrated. The flowers placed there were taken and thrown on the side of the road near the cemetery, and a hole was dug in the corner of his grave. There were obvious signs of criminal intent, but District Attorney Jon David and the police in Bladenboro have ruled out foul play: “to date we have not received any evidence of criminal wrongdoing surrounding the death.”
The family knows for a fact that their child did not try to commit suicide. Lennon didn’t have any problems that would have led him to take his own life.
“I know my son. The second I saw him I knew he couldn’t have done that to himself – it would have taken at least two men to do that to him.”
His brother, Pierre, agrees: “If my brother wanted to take his own life, I can’t understand why he would do it in such an exposed place. This feels more like he was put here as a public display – a taunting almost.”
According to the Guardian, Bladenboro is a town that’s about 80% white, 18% black, and is even called “Crackertown” by residents. About 86 people were hanged in Bladenboro between 1882 and 1968.  And a couple of neighbors who eventually embraced Lacy (because he was a young man who had friends of all backgrounds), were once ordered by police to take down confederate flags and a sign that said “Ni**ers Keep Out” in front of their home a few years ago. They said that their own son had been pushed around by some kids and in a state of anger, the man of the house, Dewey Sykes, put the sign and flags up. Thinking back on his decisions, Sykes feels bad. “I regret it now.”
Bladenboro is known for racism.
One interesting fact about this story is how the 17-year-old boy had been sexually active with a 31-year-old white woman by the name of Michelle Brimhall. Michelle Brimhall recently left her husband in February before relocating to Bladenboro, where she started seeing Lennon Lacy. In case you didn’t know, the age of consent is 16 in North Carolina. Michelle Brimhall even spoke out about the death of her lover and said he would never try to kill himself.
“No, Lennon did not kill himself. He loved his mother so much, he would never put her through that. I want to know who did it. I want them to suffer.”
The police claim the case is still under investigation and his death is currently their top priority. The family thinks the police department is not telling the truth, nor does the family believe the police are asking the right questions. The family said if the boy’s death was ruled a suicide, the police department would have concrete evidence to back up those claims. But they say more than a month after Lacy’s death, they still don’t have the correct answers. Allen Rogers, the family’s lawyer, feels that the police aren’t ready to deal with the truth of racial tensions in their community.
“I don’t believe that a thorough investigation has been done, and within that investigation, the evidence the police has compiled is not sufficient to rule out foul play. The concern is that there’s been a rush to judgment – a desire quickly to settle any issue over the cause of death.
Given the sensitivity of the issues here, it’s much easier to put this in a box marked ‘suicide’ than ask the tough questions. I’m afraid that politics have held back the investigation.”
As Rev. William Barber of the NAACP chapter in North Carolina put it, “Don’t ask these parents to bury their 17-year-old son and then act as though everything is normal. Don’t chastise them for asking the right questions. All they want is the truth.”

Reports say around 10 a.m., he approached the well with powder in a bottle. Mobbed by the community, he confessed that he had been paid to put formaldeyde into the well, and that he was not the only one. He reportedly told community dwellers, “We are many.” There are  are agents in Harbel, Dolostown, Cotton Tree and other communities around the ountry, he said.
State radio, ELBC, reports that least 10 people in the Dolostown community have died after drinking water from poisoned wells.
The man also alleged that some water companies, particularly those bagging mineral water to sell, are also involved. The poison, he said, produces Ebola-like symptoms and subsequently kills people.
The Observer had previously been informed that people dressed as nurses were going into communities with 'Ebola Vaccines'. Once injected, it reportedly produces Ebola-like symptoms and sends victims into a coma. Shortly thereafter, victims expire. Communities are now reportedly chasing vaccine peddlers out of their communities. After 10 children reportedly died from the 'vaccine' in Bensonville, the peddlers were reportedly chased out of the community upon their next visit.
It is possible that the 'vaccine' is/was composed of the same formaldehyde-water mixture. This publication has received reports from families whose loved ones' organs were missing upon return of the bodies to the families. Families suspect an organ trafficking operation is capitalizing on the outbreak of the Ebola virus in Liberia.
The district's representative condemned the act as barbaric, but called upon Liberians not to doubt the existence of the Ebola virus in the country.
An investigation is ongoing.
