Makaveli Returns 2012......

So to set the record straight on TuHoloLypse:

- This hologram was mainly Dr. Dre's idea. Dre did seek out Afeni Shakur for approval to do this, and she gave him the clearance. In return Dre made a donation to the Tupac Shakur Foundation. Afeni was thrilled by how they pulled it off, and was not at the concert but watched the live stream early this morning like yours truly did.

- There was suppos...ed to be a Nate Dogg hologram, but at the last minute they axed it. Perhaps they decided it was too soon to do one on him, though since they are doing the same set next weekend it's possible they could try to implement it there.

- The company that was behind this did a similar thing last year with Mariah Carey for a Christmas concert, and also were behind some animations at concerts for the Gorillaz. A combination of old footage, CGI and wire-framing was used which they projected onto a foil that was well masked. It actually only costs somewhere between 100,000 to 400,000 to do, though I am not sure if that includes the licensing fee.

- Some of the reactions I've seen to this are of hysteria over the thought of the walking dead. Which reminds me of reading about the early years of photography and how people were spooked by that. Guess history repeats itself in a different form
