Sam Eshaghoff took the SAT’s for at least 16 other people in return for thousands of dollars in payments. His punishment for massive fraud and robbing 16 other hardworking students a spot in the college of their choice: community service.
This punishment is in stark contrast to the punishment of the school teachers in Atlanta who were also caught cheating on a standardized test. Many of these teachers went to prison.
Since his scam was unveiled, Eshaghoff has become a star and tutor, appearing on 60 minutes and rebuilding his life. He doesn’t have to go through life as a felon as will many of the teachers in Atlanta. Is that fair?
